The topic of death is one of the most important for any person. And this is not surprising, because it is precisely the thoughts about the inevitable departure to another world that largely determine the behavior of believers in earthly life. In Islam, great attention is paid to ensuring that a person receives a better fate after death.

Relatives, friends and relatives of the deceased, as a rule, make a good dua for the deceased, they pray to the Almighty to place his soul in the Gardens of Eden, to forgive his sins and have mercy on him.

As you know, the first stage of a person’s eternal life is his life in the grave. At this stage, the soul, freed from the bodily shell, continues to live, feel, see, rejoice and be sad.

Our brothers who have passed on to another world need our prayers more than the living ones, because when a person dies, all his actions cease, except for a few.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله إلاّ من ثلاث: صدقة جارية أو علم ينتفع به أو ولد صالح يدعو له

« When a person dies, all his deeds cease, with the exception of three deeds, the reward for which does not cease to be counted even after death: continuous charity (sadaqa jariya), knowledge from which people benefit, and righteous children who pray for their parents ». ( Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)

Our duas for the deceased can become something like a lifeline that distances him from the torment of the grave. And if he was a righteous person, the dua will increase his degree before the Almighty. One of the hadiths of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) says:

مثل الميت في قبره مثل الغريق يتعلق بكل شيء ينتظر دعوة من ولد أو والد أو أخ أو قريب

« Truly, a dead person is like a drowning person who clings to everything that comes his way and expects help from his children, parents, brothers and friends in the form of dua ». ( Bayhaki)

Dua for the dead

All our duas, which we make both for ourselves and for other people, including the dead, are good to do at those moments when the likelihood of accepting the dua increases, for example, on Friday, etc.

In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty gave us dua example which is done for our deceased brothers and sisters:

وَالَّذِينَ جَاءُوا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ

(meaning): " And those who came after them [after the Ansars and the first Muhajirs] say: “Our Lord! Forgive us and our brothers who believed before us! Do not plant hatred and envy in our hearts towards those who believe. Our Lord! Verily, You are the Compassionate, the Merciful "". (Surah Al-Hashr: 10)

You can make dua for the deceased in your own words, but it is best to use the prayers of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). After all, Allah Almighty gave him a meaningful speech (jawami‘ al-kalimi), and no one can say it better than him.

From Yazid ibn Rukan ibn Al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) it is reported that the Messenger of Allah, when standing in Janaza prayer, said:

اللهم عبدك وابن أمتك احتاج إلى رحمتك، وأنت غني عن عذابه، إن كان محسناً فزد في إحسانه، وإن كان مسيئاً فتجاوز عنه

« Allahumma, ‘abdu-kya wa-bnu ama-ti-ka ichtaja ila rahmati-kya, wa Anta ganiyun ‘an ‘azabi-hi. In kana muhsiyan, fa-zid fi ihsanhi-hi, wa in kana mu-sian, fa-tajawaz ‘an-hu ».

« O Allah, Your servant and the son of Your servant needs Your mercy, and You do not need his punishment. If he did good deeds, then increase them for him, and if he did bad, then forgive him». ( Tabarani)

It is also reported that Wasila bin al-Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

“Once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was performing Janaza prayer with one Muslim, and I heard him say:

"Allahumma, inna fulana-bna fulanin fi zimmati-ka wa habli jivari-ka, fa-ki-hi min fitnati-l-kabri wa ‘azabi-n-nari, wa Anta ahl-l-wafai wa-l-hamdi. Allahumma, fa-gfir la-hu, va-rham-hu, inna-kya Anta-l-Gafur-r-Rahim "

"O Allah, truly, such and such, the son of such and such, is under Your protection and protection, save him from the torment of the grave and the punishment of fire, because You are able to fulfill promises and are worthy of praise! O Allah, forgive and have mercy on him, for You are the Forgiving, the Merciful"». ( Abu Daoud, Ibn Majah, Ibn Hibban)

From Abu 'Abdurrahman 'Auf ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) it is reported that once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed Janazah prayer, and I remembered that, turning to Allah with words of prayer for the deceased, he said :

« Allahumma-gfir la-hu, wa-rham-hu, wa 'afi-hi, wa-'fu 'an-hu, wa akrim nuzulahu, wa wassi' madhala-hu, wa-gsil-hu bi-l-mai, wa-s-salji wa-l-baradi, wa nakki-hi min al-khataya kya-ma nakkayta-s-sauba-l-abyaza min ad-danasi, wa abdil-hu daran hairan min dari-hi, wa ahlyan hairan min ahli-hi, wa zawjan hairan min zauji-hi, wa adhil-hu-l-jannata wa a'iz-hu min 'azabi-l-kabri wa 'azabi-n-nari »

« O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, deliver him (from the torment and darkness of the grave), show him mercy, give him a good welcome (make his lot in Paradise good), make his place of entry (to the grave) spacious, wash him with water, snow and hail (show him all kinds of mercy and grant him forgiveness for all his sins and omissions), cleanse him from his sins, just as You cleanse white clothes from dirt, give him in return a house better than his house, a family better than his family and a wife better than his wife, bring him into Paradise and protect him from the torment of the grave and the torment of fire».

Abu 'Abdurrahman said: " And I even wanted to be in the place of the deceased ». ( Muslim, Ibn Majah, Ibn Hibban)

'Abdurrahman (may Allah be pleased with him) liked the dua with which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned to Allah Almighty for this deceased so much that he wanted to be in his place so that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), whose the prayers were accepted by Allah, and he addressed them for him.

In this and other duas, “-hu” - a fused masculine singular pronoun of the third person - is used in cases where we are talking about a man. If a prayer is made for a deceased woman, the above-mentioned pronoun is in all cases replaced by the third person singular feminine pronoun “-kha”. For example: " Allahumma-gfir la-ha wa-rham-ha, wa ‘afi-ha, wa-‘fu ‘an-ha... ", and so on.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) read the above prayers while performing the prayer, but there is nothing reprehensible in reading them for the deceased at any other time. Moreover, as noted above, reading these prayers is preferable to making another dua on your own.

Thus, we can say that our duas will reach the dead, and also the reward for the good deeds performed by the living on their behalf will reach them. Therefore, make dua for them as often as possible, especially for parents, for relatives and friends, for teachers...

Nurmukhammad Izudinov

The theme of death is one of the key ones in any religion. And this is not surprising, because it is precisely the thoughts about the inevitable departure to the Eternal World that largely determine the behavior of believers in earthly life.

In Islam, great attention is paid to ensuring that a person receives a better fate after death. Relatives, friends and relatives of the deceased, as a rule, pray to the Almighty to place the soul of the deceased in the Garden of Eden and forgive his sins. Various duas serve this purpose, the texts of which are given below. Finding yourself next to the dying As a person, at the moment when the deceased’s eyes are closed, it is advisable to turn to Allah with the following prayer:

"Allahummyaghfir (state the name of the deceased) uarfyag dyarajatahu fil-madiyinya uahlufhu fii a’kybikhi fil-gabiriinya uagfirilyanya wa lyahu ya rabbyal alyamiin. Wafsi lyahu fiih kabrikhi ua nauuir lyahu fiih"

Translation of meaning:“Oh Allah! I'm sorry (name of the deceased), raise his rank among those led on the right path, become his successor for those who remain after him, forgive us and him, O Lord of the worlds! And make his grave spacious for him and illuminate it for him!”

Many Muslims know the phrase that should be said, upon hearing the news of someone's death:

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

Innya lillahi, vya innya ilyayhi rajigun

Translation of meaning: Verily, we belong to Allah and to Him we return!

Directly after burial It is advisable to turn to the Almighty with the following words:

“Allahumma-gfir lahullahumma sabbithu”

Translation of meaning:“Oh Allah, forgive him! O Allah, strengthen him!”

In the biography of the Grace of the Worlds, Muhammad (s.g.w.) it is mentioned that usually at the end of the burial, the Prophet (s.g.w.) stood for several minutes at the grave, and then addressed those gathered: “Pray (to your Creator) for forgiveness for your brother (sister) and ask Allah to strengthen (him or her), for, verily, now he (she) is being asked questions” (Abu Dawud and al-Bayhaqi).

In the future, remembering those who have gone to another world brothers and sisters, Muslims resort to special duas - they can be read both in their native language and in Arabic. Here are some examples of such prayers:

“Allahummyagfir-lyahu warhyamhu uagafihi uaqfu a'nhu wa akrim nuzullyahu wa wassi' mudhyalahu waagsilhu bil-mya-i wassylji uabyaradi wa nyakkyhi minyal-khataaya kamya nyakkaytyal-syaubial-abiyada minyad-dyanyasi wa Abdilhu Dyaran Khairan min Dyarihi wa Ahlal Khairan min Akhlikhi uazyaujyan khairan min zyaujikhi wa-adzhilkhul-jyannyatya ua agyinzhu min a'zyabil-kabri wa a'zyabin-nyar"

Translation of meaning:“O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, and deliver him, and show him mercy. And give him a good welcome, and make his place of entry(meaning grave - approx. website )spacious, and wash it with water, snow and hail(i.e., a metaphorical request is expressed to provide the deceased with all types of favors and grant him forgiveness for all his sins and omissions - approx. website ), and cleanse him from sins just as You cleanse white clothes from dirt, and give him in return a house better than his house, and a family better than his family, and a wife better than his wife, and bring him into paradise, and protect him from the torment of the grave and from the torment of fire!(This text of the dua is given in the hadith transmitted by Muslim)

“Allahummya-gfir lihiyyanya ua myyitinya ua shakhidinya uaga-i-binya ua sagyyirinya ua kyabiirinya ua zyakyarina uya unsyanya. Allahummya myan ahyaytyahu minnya fya-ahyihi a'lal-isliam wa myan tauyaffyaytyahu minnya fya-ahyihi a'lal-name. Allahummya la tahrimnya ajrahu wa la tudylyanya bya'dyah"

Translation of meaning:“Oh Allah, forgive our living and dead, present and absent, young and old, men and women! O Allah, make sure that those of us to whom You give life live according to (the rules of) Islam, and those of us whom You give rest, rest in faith! O Allah, do not deprive us of our reward for him(that is, rewards for patience during trials - approx. website ) and do not lead us astray after him (i.e. after his death)!”(Found in the collections of hadiths of Ibn Majah and Ahmad).

“Allahumma innya (name of the deceased) fii zimmyatikya hyabli jyavyarika faqyhi min fitnyatil-kabri ua a’zaabin-nnyari ua anta ahlul-vyafya-i vyal-hyakk. Fyagfirlyahu värkhyamhyu innyakya antyal-g'afurur-rahiim"

Translation of meaning:"O Allah, verily (name of the deceased) is under Your protection and protection, save him from the temptation of the grave and the torment of fire. After all, You keep promises and show justice! Forgive him and have mercy on him, verily You are the Forgiving, the Merciful!”(This dua is given in the hadiths from Ibn Majah and Abu Dawud).

“Allahummya a’bdukya vyabnyu amyatikya ikhtyajya ila rahmyatikya ua antya ganiyun a’n a’zyabihi in kyanya muhsinn fazid fii hyasyanatihi wa in kyanya musi-an fyatajyauzz a’nkhu”

Translation of meaning:“Oh Allah! Your servant and the son of Your servant needed Your mercy, but You do not need his torment! If he did good deeds, then add them to him, and if he did bad, then do not punish him!”(Text of the dua according to the hadith transmitted by al-Hakim).

There is also a separate dua, which is resorted to in the situation of ascension of the deceased prayers for a deceased child:

“Allahumma-ja’lhu lanya fyaratan wa salafiyan wa ajran”

Translation:“Oh Allah, make him ahead of us (in paradise) and become our predecessor and reward for us!”

Dua at the cemetery

It is known that Muslims regularly visit the graves of their loved ones and ancestors. It is also part of the tradition of holding the main Islamic holidays - Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayram) and Eid al-Fitr (Eid al-Fitr).

Aisha bint Abu Bakr (r.a.) said that the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) often went to the Al-Baki graveyard and said the following text Dua when entering a cemetery:

“Assalamu alaikum! Darra kaumin muqminina, wa atakum ma tuaduna, gadan muajjalyuna, wa innya, insha Allah, bikum lahikun. Allahum-agfirli ahli Bakiil-Gharkad" (hadith from Muslim)

Translation of meaning: “Peace be with you! O you who dwell in the monastery of the faithful, the promised has come, and tomorrow it will be our turn, and, truly, if it is the will of the Lord, we will come to you. O Almighty! Forgive the sins of those buried on Baki."

In addition, while staying in places of mass graves of people, you can say the following words:

“Assalamu alaikum, yaa ahlil-kubur. Yagfirullahu la nahua lakum. An-tum salafuna, wa nah-nu bil-asaar" (Tirmidhi)

Translation of meaning: “Peace be upon you who are underground (in the graves). May the Almighty forgive both you and us. You passed on to another world first, and we will be next.”

But how useful will good deeds performed in their favor - prayer and alms - be for dead people? This question occupies the minds of Islamic scholars, among whom there are those who question the possibility of living people helping the dead.

Arguments of those who are in favor

First, you need to provide arguments that will allow you to answer the question posed above in the affirmative:

1. The Holy Qur'an contains a verse that describes how new generations of Muslims will seek forgiveness for their deceased predecessors:

“And those who came after them say: “Our Lord! Forgive us and our brothers who believed before us! Do not plant in our hearts hatred and envy towards those who believed. Our Lord! Truly You are the Compassionate, the Merciful "" (59:10)

This verse is an example of how Muslims should turn to the Almighty for previous generations of Muslims who have already left this world. If this action did not have any special benefit for the dead, then, obviously, the revelation of such a verse would not make sense.

2. Very often you can find a hadith that talks about deeds that benefit a person after death. “When a person dies, the list of his good deeds closes.” [that is, it can no longer be replenished], however, three actions will bring him reward in the grave. This is an alms given for the benefit of others who continue to benefit from it, the production of knowledge and a well-bred child who will pray for his parent after his death” (Muslim).

3. (funeral prayer) is, in essence, a request to the Creator for forgiveness of the sins of the deceased. In addition, the Prophet Muhammad (s.g.w.), upon completing all the necessary procedures for preparing the deceased for burial, spoke the following words to the companions: “Make dua for the salvation of the soul of our brother, his manifestation of perseverance and firmness, because right now he is being tested in grave" (Abu Dawud). Another hadith, which is cited in the collection of Imam Muslim, says that people who come to the funeral prayer will actually intercede for the deceased. If there are at least a hundred such people, then Allah will accept their intercession on his behalf.

4. In the hadith transmitted by Aisha (r.a.), it is reported that one day a man turned to the Final Messenger of the Almighty (s.g.w.) and asked: “My mother died. Despite this, I feel that if she were alive, she would give alms to those in need. Can I now commit this act instead of her?” Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) answered this question in the affirmative (cited by Bukhari and Muslim).

5. Another argument in favor of the need to pray for the salvation of the souls of the dead is the norm from Islamic law, which allows for pilgrimage (Hajj) for the deceased.

6. In one of the hadiths of the Grace of the Worlds of Muhammad (s.g.w.) the following situation is given. They brought him a sheep, which he slaughtered himself. After this, the Prophet (s.g.w.) said: “For the pleasure of the Almighty. Allah is great! I performed this action for myself personally and for all those members of my community who were unable to perform the sacrifice" (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi).

Arguments of opponents of prayer for the dead

Many other arguments can be given in favor of the need to perform good deeds on behalf of the deceased. However, representatives in the Middle Ages strongly opposed this. Here are some of their arguments:

1) Mu'tazilites, who preached in their works the need to rely exclusively on reason when studying Holy Quran, quote the following verse:

“Every person is a hostage to what he has acquired” (74:38)

They argue that a person cannot count on success at the expense of other people. However, the Mu'tazilites overlook the fact that the verse deals only with sinful acts. The verse does not apply to good deeds.

2) Another verse of the Holy Quran was a frequent tool in the hands of the Mu'tazilites:

“A person will receive only what he strived for” (53:39)

From this it follows that a servant of Allah cannot rely on the deeds committed by other people. However, this argument of the Mu'tazilites can be answered from several positions at once. Let's start with the fact that the above verse is. Its legal component is replaced by a verse from Surah “Mountain”:

“We will reunite the believers with their descendants who followed them in faith, and we will not diminish their deeds in the least” (52:21)

Islamic theologians interpret this text of the Holy Scripture in the sense that on the Day of Judgment, righteous children of parents will be able to weigh down their scales, which will contain good deeds. The same thing is said in the above hadith about three things that will bring God's reward to a person after death.

Further, it is worth noting that the verse mentioned by the Mu'tazilites refers to infidels and those who hypocritically hid behind Islam. In some rivayat it is stated that the person referred to in the verse is Abu Jahl, who brought a lot of harm to the first Muslims and left this world in disbelief. Thus, the Mu'tazilite view of the issue at hand is rejected by the vast majority of Muslim scholars.

Question.

What good can we do for our deceased relatives other than making dua for them?

Answer.

There are many hadiths of the Prophet (peace be upon him) about how we can help the souls of deceased relatives and people close to us. (Abu Dawud, Vesaiah, 3; Tirmidhi, Vesaiah, 7)

1) A person receives a reward for deeds committed during his lifetime

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

"When a person dies, (all) his good deeds cease, with the exception of three:

Sadaka-jariya, i.e. a good deed that a person did during his lifetime and which continues to benefit other people even after his death. For example, construction of mosques, bridges, roads, donations to those in need, etc.

Useful knowledge passed on to other people. For example, by teaching or writing books.

Godly children who will pray for their parents.

(Muslim, Wasiyet, 14; Abu Dawud, Wesaiah, 14; Tirmidhi, Akham, 36).

In a hadith from Abu Hurayrah (peace be upon him), the following words of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are reported:

“After his death, a Muslim believer will be continuously rewarded for his good deeds and sadaqah: for the knowledge he received and disseminated, for leaving righteous offspring, for building a mosque, for sheltering a traveler, for spending from his property.” (Ibn Majah, Muqaddimah, 20).

2) Dua and istighfar for the deceased

One of the most significant things that we can do for the dead is to turn to the Almighty with prayers for their forgiveness. The Koran says: “And those who came after them say: “Our Lord! Forgive us and our brothers who believed before us! Do not plant hatred and envy in our hearts towards those who believe. Our Lord! Verily, You are the Compassionate, the Merciful.” (Surah “Gathering”, 59/10).

The verse talks about the importance of istighfar for the dead. If this were not beneficial for them, then the Almighty would not extol the importance of Istighfar. Let's look at stories from the lives of the Companions:

"Once Abu Ubayd Malik (R.A.) asked the Prophet (peace be upon him): “O Messenger of Allah! Do I have the opportunity to do good for my deceased parents, and how can I help them?”

To which Muhammad (peace be upon him) replied:

“Yes, there is. You need to make dua for them, ask Allah for their forgiveness, fulfill your debts properly, honor your relatives and their loved ones.” (Abu Dawud, Sunan, Adab, 12; Ibn Majah, Sunan, Adab, 2).

Even the Prophet himself (peace be upon him) performed prayer for the departed and offered dua for them:

“When you perform prayer for the deceased, do it sincerely and sincerely offer dua for him.” . (Abu Dawud, Sunnah, Jenaiz, 59).

In addition, the Prophet (peace be upon him), performing prayer for one person, asked:

“Oh Allah! This person is with You, he is under Your protection. Protect him from sorrow and torment in Gehenna. All praise belongs to You alone. Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him! Verily, You are the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Abu Dawud, Jenaiz, 56)

Another important point is the repayment of the debts of the deceased, since the hadith says: "The debt is tied in the soul of a Muslim until it is paid" (Tirmidhi, Sunan, Janaiz, 76; Ibn Majah, Sunan, Sadaka, 12).

Therefore, if a person died and he still had debts, then, first of all, the heirs need to pay off the debts.

3) Sadaka

Islamic scholars are unanimous in their opinion that sadaqah should be given for the dead. The hadiths of the Prophet (peace be upon him) testify to this.

1. The narration from Ibn Abbas says: “One man approached the Prophet (peace be upon him) and asked:

O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! My mother died. If I give sadaqa on her behalf, will it benefit her?

The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied:

The man then said:

I have a plot where fruits grow. I testify before you that I give this garden as sadaqah for my mother" (Bukhari, Sahih, 15,20, 26).

2. “Once another man asked the Prophet (peace be upon him):

O Messenger of Allah! My mother died, which of the various types of good deeds (sadaqa) is preferable to perform for her?

Water, said the Prophet (peace be upon him).

In this connection, Sa'd ibn Ubad built a well and said:

This well is for the mother of Sad ibn Ubad. (Abu Dawud, Sunan, Zakat, 42)

The most noble and virtuous action is the intention to distribute nafil sadaq. Because the reward for this will reach the soul of the deceased, and the one who has performed this good deed will not lose anything.

According to the scholars of the Hanafi madhhab, a person can dedicate a reward to someone for his good deeds. Separately, you can make a sacrifice for the deceased, perform Hajj, and fast for him. Moreover, the one who does this does not lose his own reward, even if he does good with the aim of donating a savab for someone who has left this world.

And Allah knows best!

MUSLIM PRAYER FOR PARENTS

MUSLIM PRAYER FOR PARENTS:

Have mercy on my parents, as they had mercy on me and raised me when I was little.

Save my parents from all misfortunes and troubles and give them happiness in both worlds.

Bless me in serving them and in obedience to them in everything except what you forbid.

Truly I seek salvation from you from being a burden to them and arrogant in front of them and forgetful towards them and their rights over me.

Be pleased with them and make them happy.

And make me one of those whom you have blessed with the satisfaction of your parents towards them.

You are the Lord of the Worlds. And to you return.

Prayer for parents

“Honor your father and your mother. » – 5th Orthodox commandment

The commandments of God are the rule of life for a believer. By observing them, a person receives hope for Heavenly reward. But the Fifth Commandment, which says “Honor your father and your mother. " is something of an exception. Keeping the Fifth Commandment is the key to a long and happy life on earth.

What do these words teach us?

With the fifth commandment, the Almighty commands us to honor our parents. This means you need to love them, show respect to them. It is important to remember that parents should not be offended or insulted by your words and actions. You need to be a real assistant or assistant to them in all their affairs and endeavors. The words of the Fifth Commandment say that disrespect for parents is a great sin.

The words of the Fifth Commandment imply that one must obey one's parents in everything. The only exception can be their advice, which contradicts other commandments of God. It is the responsibility of children to take care of their parents, especially during periods when they are in dire need of it. It is important to take care of parents in old age and illness. We must constantly offer prayers to the Lord for their health and prolongation of earthly life. And after death, one should pray for the forgiveness of all their sins and for the repose of their souls, so that the path to the Kingdom of God will be opened for them.

Along with parents, the Fifth Commandment implies that believers must honor those who, for whatever reason, have replaced parents. These can be priests and confessors who, praying for us, care about our salvation. They teach us the true faith and pray for our salvation.

We also need to honor the named parents, who take care of our everyday life and protect us. We also need to honor the educators and teachers who teach us life rules and put a piece of their soul into our upbringing, trying to pass on to us everything that is good and useful.

According to the fifth commandment, we need to honor older people who have life experience and can give us valuable advice.

Why is it important to pray for living parents?

In today's fast-paced world, most people are very busy with their own lives and work, so there is very little time left to pay attention to their parents. And this is wrong, since by such behavior a person violates the Fifth Commandment of God, which means he cannot count on a happy and long earthly life.

It is very important to pray for your living parents. It's better to do this in Orthodox church. A simple prayer near the image of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow is very effective. First you need to light candles for the health of your parents, and then bend low over the image.

Then whisper these words:

After this you need to enlighten yourself sign of the cross and leave the temple. If it is not possible to attend church, then you can offer prayers for living parents at home. But for this you need to purchase several icons and organize a red corner. There should be an icon of the Savior in the house and Holy Mother of God. You also additionally need to have an icon of the Saint to whom you plan to turn with a request for the health and well-being of your parents.

A strong prayer for living parents to the Lord God sounds like this:

Text of the prayer for health to Nicholas the Wonderworker

The prayer for the health of parents directed to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is considered especially strong.

In short, it sounds like this:

Prayer for the repose of the soul of a deceased parent

If one of the parents has died, then it is necessary to read a prayer for the repose of his soul. This must be done in order to save the soul of the deceased and beg God for mercy for the forgiveness of all sins previously committed by a person. A prayer request for a deceased parent also helps children to be saved, since they are attuned correctly during prayer. This attitude helps to take your mind off the daily hustle and bustle, and, therefore, protects you from evil. Prayer for the repose of the soul of a deceased parent helps to accept what happened and calm down. That is, by praying, you will be able to calm down faster and return to a normal lifestyle.

At home at any time you can pray with these words:

What dua should be read for parents?

Father and mother are the most important people in a person’s life. Allah has given them the responsibility for giving life to each of us. In raising us, fathers and mothers experience many difficulties.

Islam is a religion of mercy and goodness, and the very first people who should be given special respect are those thanks to whom we were born by the will of the Almighty. Allah Almighty calls Muslims to show the best character towards them and perform the best deeds.

The Quran says: “Have pity on them, be humble, simple and submissive before them, and ask: “O my Lord Allah, have mercy on my parents just as they showed mercy on me, raising me as a child when I was small! » (Quran, 17:24).

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was once asked: “Which deed does Allah love most?” “Performed prayer on time,” was the answer. “And what is behind it?” “Submission to parents and trying to do good to them,” he answered and added that after this comes ghazavat - a battle on the path of Islam.

Both during life and death, the duty of Muslims is to respect their parents, to do only good, to remember and take care of them, to ask the Almighty for them. Duas made for parents are immediately accepted by the Almighty and bring barakah to the believer:

Bow before them the wing of humility in your mercy and say: “ God! Have mercy on them, because they raised me as a child"(17:24).

  1. Rabbana-gfirli wa li ualidaya wa lil-mu'minina yauma yakumul-hisab.
  1. Allahumma ikhdiniy wa ualidai wa akaaribiy alassyrati l-mustaqim.

Oh Allah, guide me, my parents and relatives on the true path.

    Muslim prayer for father

What dua should be read for parents?

Father and mother are the most important people in a person’s life. Allah has given them the responsibility for giving life to each of us. In raising us, fathers and mothers experience many difficulties.

Islam is a religion of mercy and goodness, and the very first people who should be given special respect are those thanks to whom we were born by the will of the Almighty. Allah Almighty calls Muslims to show the best character towards them and perform the best deeds.

    1. Rabbana-gfirli wa li ualidaya wa lil-mu'minina yauma yakumul-hisab.

Our Lord! Forgive me, my parents and the believers on the day when the account is presented" (14:41).

    1. "God! Forgive me and my parents and those who entered my house as believers, as well as believing men and women. And do not add anything to the wicked except destruction!” (71:28).
    2. Allahumma ikhdiniy wa ualidai wa akaaribiy alassyrati l-mustaqim.

Oh Allah, guide me, my parents and relatives on the true path.

  • As we know, as soon as a person leaves this world, he no longer has the opportunity to perform acts for which he will receive a reward. However, every person has the opportunity to receive compensation even after death.

If a person bequeaths (to his heirs) to spend the property that he leaves after death on good deeds, he will be able to receive for this the same reward as he would have received if he had spent it during his lifetime. A person receives the same reward if he spent his property on a good cause ( for example, the construction of mosques, madrassas, roads, bridges, water pipelines, etc.), the fruits of which people will enjoy even after his death. There are two more ways in which a person can continue to receive a reward even after leaving for another world - this is useful knowledge left behind by a person and a child who will pray for him.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله إلاّ من ثلاث: صدقة جارية أو علم ينتفع به أو ولد صالح يدعو له

« When a person dies, all his deeds cease, with the exception of three deeds, the reward for which does not cease even after death: continuous charity (sadaqah jariya), knowledge from which people benefit, and righteous children who pray for their parents " (Muslim, Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi)

As we see, in this hadith the Prophet ﷺ indicates that the prayers of righteous children benefit the deceased, therefore, his sins can also be forgiven. This also includes reading the Koran for the deceased. Although reading the Qur'an by anyone can benefit the deceased, if one of his children does it, then the deceased receives a greater reward. The Koran for deceased parents and other relatives can be read at home, in a mosque or in other suitable places, but it is preferable to do this near the graves of the dead.

Visiting the graves of loved ones, and especially parents, is an important sunnah. As reported from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the most comforting thing for the deceased is the time when he is visited by the person whom he loved in worldly life.

It is also reported from Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say:

    مَنْ زَارَ قَبْرَ وَالِدَيْهِ كُلّ جُمُعَةٍ أَوْ أَحَدِهِمَا ، فَقَرَأَ عِنْدَهُمَا أَوْ عِنْدَهُ يس ، غُفِرَ لَهُ بِعَدَدِ كل آية وحرف منها

« Whoever visits the graves of his parents or one of them every Friday and reads Surah Yasin near them, the Almighty will forgive him as many sins as there are letters and words in this sura ». ( Daylami)

It happens that a person tortured them during their parents’ lifetime. But if after their death he continually prays for them, Allah Almighty can forgive and record his name among those who were submissive to their parents.

From this it is also clear that a person who visits the graves of his parents is obeying them, not causing them harm or torment, and fulfilling his duty to them. When visiting the graves of parents, it is necessary to behave in an appropriate manner, observing ethical standards. It is necessary to stand next to them at the same distance as you stood during their lifetime, showing respect and honor to them. You should not raise your voice near them.

You should not knock on their graves, hug them, or walk around them, and when leaving, you must behave as decently and respectfully as you did with them during life.

You should also make dua after reading the Quran, be it near graves or in other places, so that Allah Almighty accepts the reading and brings the reward for it to the dead. In this case, there will be much more hope for acceptance.

Imam An-Nawawi he said the following about this: “ The most famous opinion of Imam Al-Shafi'i is that the reward for reading the Koran cannot reach the deceased, but Shafi'i theologians believed that this was possible. If a person reads the Koran, then in conclusion let him say:

    اَللَّهُمَّ أَوْصِلْ ثَوَابَ مَا قَرَأْتـُهُ إِلىَ فلان

« Allahumma awsil sawaba ma karatukhu ila fulan... »

« O Almighty! Bring the reward (sawab) for what was read by me to such and such (name is called)" (“Mukhtasar tafsir Ibn Kathir”; “Al-Azkar”)

Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami also writes about this:

« Receiving a reward for reading the Qur'an to the deceased is not an end in itself, but the goal is a dua so that Allah will have mercy and bring the same reward to the person for whom the dua is made" (“Al-Fatawa alfikhiya al-kubra”)

Ibn Al-Qasim in his book “Hashiya ‘ala Tuhfat al-mukhtaj” adds:

« If a person, at the beginning of the reading (of the Quran for the deceased), intends to transfer the reward to the deceased and makes dua, then the deceased receives a reward for this reading. However, does this mean that the deceased receives the same reward as the one who read, that is, the one who read receives his reward, and the deceased also receives the same reward, or only the deceased receives a reward for reading, and the one who read does not? There is disagreement on this score, but the heart still leans towards the first (the deceased receives the same reward as the one who read it). This opinion also corresponds to the meaning implied by the words of Ibn As-Salah».

Based on all of the above, we can say that Allah Almighty forgives the sins of the deceased and brings to him the reward for, if his relative, especially children, reads the Quran for him and makes a dua so that Allah brings to him the reward for reading and forgives his sins.
