Maintaining a constant temperature and the double boiler effect allows you to maintain the juiciness of the product and make the finished meat as soft and tender as possible. In addition, the multicooker preserves almost all the beneficial properties of the hearts, which are almost impossible to preserve during frying in a frying pan over an open fire. If you just can’t decide whether to cook chicken hearts in a slow cooker, a recipe with a photo will finally convince you of the correctness of your choice.

How to select and prepare hearts for cooking?

Fresh offal has the most valuable nutritional properties. Therefore, it is best to purchase hearts a maximum of 24 hours after slaughtering the bird. The inner chambers of the hearts are filled with blood, which long-term storage spoils. You can distinguish a fresh product by its rich red color. Avoid buying frozen organ meats, as the maximum benefits are concentrated in fresh or chilled meat. If you were unable to find such an option, defrosting should be done on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, gradually.

To appreciate the excellent taste of chicken heart dishes, each of them must first be cut and the blood clot removed. Then you need to rinse the meat in cold water. After this, you can cook chicken hearts in a slow cooker. The resulting dish goes optimally with boiled rice, crumbly cereals, pasta, stewed or fried potatoes.

You can use this product as a base for making soups, as an addition to vegetable stew or as an independent dish.

Don’t forget about the sauce, without which it is almost impossible to reveal all the facets of the taste of chicken hearts. The easiest option is to stew them in sour cream or cream, with the addition of aromatic ginger, fresh or ground. You can also use tomato sauce, thick ketchup, honey, soy or garlic marinade.

Recipe for hearts with buckwheat porridge in a slow cooker

Buckwheat is delicious on its own. But in combination with delicate offal it acquires a wonderful delicate taste and aroma. A hearty and nutritious dish does not require any additions; it is completely independent. You can easily feed all family members, spending very little time and effort on it.

Ingredients:

  • Buckwheat – 1 tbsp.;
  • Vegetable oil -25 ml;
  • Water – 2 tbsp.;
  • Chicken hearts – 500 g;
  • Medium carrots – 1 pc.;
  • Large onion – 1 pc.;
  • Bay leaf – 2 pcs.;
  • Salt - to taste;
  • Ground black pepper – 0.25 tsp;
  • Fresh herbs - for serving.

Preparation:

Peel, wash and chop the vegetables. The carrots can be grated on a coarse grater, and the onions can be cut into small cubes. Place the vegetables in the multicooker bowl, after pouring them into non-vegetable oil. Fry the onions and carrots for 5-7 minutes, until soft, on the “fry” mode.

Free the offal from films, fat and vessels, rinse. Add them to the bowl with the vegetables, temporarily turning off the multicooker.

Be sure to rinse the buckwheat under running water and also add it to the bowl with the rest of the ingredients of the delicious dish.

Now add spices: salt, ground black pepper and a few bay leaves. Fill the contents of the bowl with warm water.

Close the lid, set the “pilaf” mode (you can use the “porridge”, “rice”, “multi-cook” functions), time – 40 minutes.

After the signal, the buckwheat with hearts is completely ready. It needs to be mixed and distributed among portioned plates, sprinkled with fresh herbs on top, and then served immediately while it is hot. Bon appetit!
